Hello everyone,
I'm posting on behalf of the HPanel team at Hostlic Webhosting Ltd (London, UK). We've built HPanel since March 2024 and wanted to introduce it properly to this community.
What it is: HPanel is a self-hosted web hosting control panel for hosting providers, resellers and sysadmins. You install it on your own Ubuntu 22.04 or 24.04 LTS server (cloud/VPS or dedicated) and keep full root and SSH access. It comes with separate Admin, Reseller and User panels.
Why we built it: legacy control panels have moved to per-account pricing and sell the essentials as paid add-ons. HPanel uses one flat license per server, and every plan includes every feature. The only difference between plans is the number of hosting accounts.
What's included in every plan
Security

  • Real-time malware scanning (ClamAV plus our own signature engine), upload scanning, a filesystem watcher and auto-quarantine
  • Fail2Ban with a live dashboard (SSH, FTP, mail and web jails) and an IP/CIDR blocker
  • ModSecurity WAF with the OWASP Core Rule Set, toggled per domain
  • Free Let's Encrypt SSL, issued and renewed automatically
Resource isolation
  • Per-account CPU, RAM, IO, inode and process limits using Linux cgroups
  • Chroot filesystem jail per user, plus per-user MySQL limits
  • Package-based provisioning with one-click presets
Performance
  • Nginx with per-account PHP-FPM pools and a PHP selector (7.4 to 8.4)
  • FastCGI page cache, Redis object cache, OPcache + JIT, Brotli and Gzip
For developers
  • Node.js apps with PM2, and Python apps (Django, Flask, FastAPI) with Gunicorn and venv
  • Docker container manager with per-user resource limits
  • Git auto-deploy from GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket, with webhooks and rollback
  • Browser-based web terminal
Hosting essentials
  • Email (Postfix, Dovecot, Roundcube) with automatic SPF, DKIM and DMARC, plus SpamAssassin
  • DNS zone editor and DNS clustering
  • File manager with code editor, FTP accounts, cron jobs, MySQL with phpMyAdmin SSO
  • Scheduled backups to S3, Google Cloud Storage or Hetzner, with one-click restore
  • Softaculous one-click installer (400+ apps) and a WordPress toolkit
For hosting businesses
  • WHMCS provisioning module, white-label branding and an API
  • Migration tooling to move accounts over from legacy control panels (backup import or remote SSH pull)
  • Updates ship as packaged builds and roll back automatically if a health check fails

Getting started
Installation is a single command on a clean Ubuntu server, and typically takes 5 to 15 minutes. You'll need 2 GB RAM minimum (4 GB recommended) and 20 GB of disk. Licenses are tied to the server's IP and machine ID, and you can move one to a new server from the client portal.
You can click through both the admin side and the customer side on the live demo linked from our homepage.

We'd really like this community's feedback: what you'd need to see before trusting a newer panel on a production server, and what's missing for your setup. I'll be around to answer questions in this thread.
Thanks for reading,
